Introduction
Sustainable pavement engineering balances structural reliability, user performance, cost, carbon, resource use and maintainability. Durable solutions depend on accurate traffic loading, subgrade characterization, climate exposure, drainage, material behaviour and construction quality—not simply the selection of a nominal pavement section.
This five-day course connects pavement design with lifecycle asset management. Participants assess flexible and rigid systems, evaluate conventional and recycled materials, interpret performance indicators and select preservation or rehabilitation treatments. Lifecycle cost and carbon methods are used alongside resilience and quality controls to develop pavement strategies that reduce repeated intervention while maintaining safety and serviceability.
