Introduction

Advanced engineering surveys require traceable control, quantified uncertainty and defensible transformation between reference systems. High-precision outcomes depend on instrument behaviour, observation design, network geometry, atmospheric effects, rigorous adjustment and quality controls—not simply the nominal accuracy of modern equipment.

This five-day advanced course integrates GNSS, terrestrial surveying, UAV photogrammetry and laser scanning into controlled geomatics workflows. Participants design observation networks, interpret least-squares results, manage point clouds, establish monitoring schemes and evaluate deformation significance. The emphasis is on selecting fit-for-purpose methods, detecting systematic error and producing spatial deliverables that can withstand technical review.

Objectives

  • Manage geodetic reference frames and transformations.
  • Design high-precision survey-control networks.
  • Evaluate GNSS observation and correction strategies.
  • Interpret least-squares adjustment diagnostics.
  • Plan UAV photogrammetric acquisition.
  • Process and validate laser-scanning data.
  • Design statistically defensible deformation monitoring.
  • Document survey uncertainty and traceability.
