Introduction

Ground behaviour governs the safety and serviceability of foundations, slopes, embankments and excavations. Because soil is variable, stress-dependent and influenced by water, effective engineering requires a sound model of its behaviour and a treatment strategy matched to project risks.

This five-day course equips geotechnical and civil engineers to interpret soil mechanics and select ground-improvement techniques. Participants will evaluate stress, seepage, consolidation and shear strength; compare densification, drainage, reinforcement, stabilisation and grouting; and plan field verification. Workshops emphasise parameter selection, constructability and performance monitoring.
