Training Outlines
Introduction
Transmission-line projects require coordinated electrical, mechanical, civil and environmental decisions. An effective design must satisfy thermal capacity, voltage performance, insulation, clearances, structural loading, protection and grid-code requirements throughout the asset lifecycle.
This course provides an integrated framework for overhead line design and grid connection. Participants will calculate electrical parameters, assess conductor and insulation choices, evaluate route and structural constraints, and coordinate protection, compensation and commissioning studies.
Objectives
- Calculate transmission-line electrical parameters and performance
- Select conductors against thermal and economic criteria
- Coordinate insulation, clearances and overvoltage protection
- Assess sag, tension and mechanical loading
- Evaluate routing, structures and right-of-way constraints
- Design reactive compensation and voltage controls
- Coordinate protection and grid-integration studies
- Develop testing, commissioning and asset-monitoring plans
