Introduction
This course examines the behaviour and engineering application of insulation used in high-voltage equipment. Participants connect dielectric theory and electric-field stress with material selection, environmental ageing, insulation coordination, laboratory testing, condition assessment and lifecycle decisions.

- Compare gaseous, liquid, solid and composite insulation systems.
- Assess electric-field stress, interfaces, clearances and creepage distances.
- Apply insulation-coordination principles to equipment and networks.
- Evaluate electrical, thermal, mechanical and environmental ageing.
- Interpret dielectric, partial-discharge and condition-monitoring tests.
