High Voltage Engineering and Insulation Coordination Course
Apply high-voltage field analysis, insulation behaviour, overvoltage studies, testing and coordination methods to reliable power-system design.
Training Outlines
Introduction
High-voltage equipment must withstand continuous electric stress as well as lightning, switching and temporary overvoltages. Reliable insulation design depends on understanding field distribution, dielectric behaviour, environmental effects, protective-device performance and statistical withstand principles.
This course develops a coordinated approach to high-voltage engineering and insulation selection. Participants will analyse electric fields, evaluate breakdown mechanisms, interpret overvoltage studies, specify protective measures and plan laboratory and field testing safely.
Objectives
- Analyse electric fields in high-voltage configurations
- Explain breakdown mechanisms in dielectric materials
- Evaluate lightning, switching and temporary overvoltages
- Select insulation levels using coordination principles
- Coordinate surge arresters and shielding measures
- Interpret high-voltage test methods and results
- Assess pollution, ageing and partial-discharge effects
- Apply safe high-voltage laboratory and field practices
