Introduction
Fire safety is a system of prevention, detection, containment, evacuation, suppression and emergency response. Individual code-compliant components can still fail collectively when assumptions about fire size, occupancy, interfaces, reliability or operating conditions are inconsistent.
This five-day course develops integrated strategies for buildings and industrial facilities. Participants examine fire and smoke behaviour, egress, passive and active protection, structural performance and process hazards. Performance-based analysis, commissioning and impairment management connect design intent with reliable operation.
Objectives
- Define fire-safety objectives and design scenarios.
- Interpret fire growth and smoke behaviour.
- Evaluate egress and occupant tenability.
- Coordinate compartmentation and smoke control.
- Select detection and suppression strategies.
- Assess structural fire-performance requirements.
- Address industrial fire and explosion hazards.
- Plan commissioning and lifecycle assurance.
