Introduction
Generative AI can create and transform text, images, audio, code and structured information, but a compelling demonstration does not automatically become a reliable business solution. Organisations must select the right model, ground outputs in trusted evidence, evaluate performance against real tasks and control risks such as hallucination, data exposure and prompt injection.
This five-day course gives professionals a technically informed and commercially relevant understanding of generative AI models and applications. Participants will examine foundation-model principles, prompt and output design, retrieval-augmented generation, model adaptation, evaluation and secure deployment. Applied workshops focus on building useful, governed solutions that improve work without creating uncontrolled operational dependence.
Objectives

Day 1: Generative AI Models and Capabilities

- Autoregressive, adversarial, variational and diffusion models

- Language, image and multimodal foundation models

Day 2: Prompt Engineering and Output Control
- Prompt objectives, context and constraints
- Zero-shot, few-shot and decomposition techniques
- System instructions and trusted context
- Structured outputs and schema validation
- Sampling controls and output variability
- Prompt testing and failure analysis
Day 3: Retrieval and Agentic Applications
- Retrieval-augmented generation architecture
- Document chunking, embeddings and indexing
- Lexical, vector and hybrid retrieval
- Source grounding and claim traceability
- Tool use and bounded agent workflows
- Knowledge-assistant design laboratory
Day 4: Model Adaptation and Evaluation
