Introduction
This course combines fire-safety engineering with practical emergency preparedness. Participants examine fire dynamics and risk, code and performance requirements, passive and active protection, means of escape, detection and suppression systems, emergency organisation, drills and system assurance.
Objectives
- Explain combustion, fire growth, smoke movement and heat transfer.
- Assess fire scenarios, consequences and risk controls.
- Interpret fire codes and performance-based design principles.
- Evaluate compartmentation, structural protection and means of escape.
- Select detection, alarm, suppression and smoke-control systems.
- Develop coordinated fire-emergency plans and response roles.
- Design realistic drills and evaluate emergency performance.
- Integrate inspection, testing and maintenance into fire assurance.
