Introduction

This course develops the planning and operational discipline required for safe confined-space work and credible rescue readiness. Participants classify spaces, assess atmospheric and physical hazards, establish isolation and permit controls, conduct testing and ventilation, define team roles and develop rescue arrangements.

Objectives

Identify confined spaces and determine entry-control requirements.
Assess atmospheric, engulfment, mechanical and configuration hazards.
Specify isolation, cleaning, ventilation and access controls.
Develop and verify a complete confined-space entry permit.
Select and use atmospheric monitoring equipment correctly.
Define entrant, attendant, supervisor and rescue-team responsibilities.
Plan non-entry and entry-rescue methods and equipment.
Evaluate readiness through drills, debriefing and programme audits.
