Introduction
This course develops the technical and procedural controls required to prevent electrical shock, arc flash and related injuries. Participants examine electrical hazards, risk assessment, safe isolation, approach boundaries, incident-energy concepts, PPE, labelling, energised-work controls and emergency readiness.
Objectives
- Recognise shock, arc-flash, arc-blast and secondary electrical hazards.
- Assess electrical work risk by task, equipment and system condition.
- Apply safe isolation, lockout and verification procedures.
- Determine shock-protection boundaries and protective measures.
- Interpret arc-flash studies, labels and incident-energy information.
- Select suitable PPE, tools and work practices.
- Control justified energised work through permits and planning.
- Evaluate electrical-safety programmes, competence and emergency readiness.
